The Market Changes. The Basics Win.

A few weeks ago one of my agents said something that stuck with me. “I keep waiting to feel ready, but the truth is, the days I move first are the days I feel better.”

That’s exactly this week.

It’s December 29th. The year is almost done. Most people are waiting for January 1st to feel different, but in real estate, the shift you make today is always the one that counts the most.

So if you were in a call with me right now, here are the five things I’d tell you before the calendar flips:

  1. Finish one unfinished thing you’ve been carrying mentally. Not ten things. One thing. Complete it, and notice the energy shift.
  2. Look at your first week of January and block the time for your priorities. Not the whole year. Just seven days. Start in motion, not planning mode.
  3. Send a message or make a call to someone who mattered to your business this year. No agenda. Just appreciation. It goes further than you think.
  4. Write down three wins from 2025 that make you proud. Big or small, doesn’t matter. Progress you protected. Conversations you handled well. Clients you served the right way.
  5. Pick one real goal for January that moves your business or your mindset forward. One target you can commit to and track.

And let’s say this part out loud too. 2025 was a tough market. Deals slowed, listings sat, buyers hesitated, and the noise was constant. But here’s the truth. If you were out there doing the basics, protecting your calendar, having honest pricing conversations, following up without fear, negotiating better, listening more, and staying in real conversations, then this market didn’t break you. It built you.

That’s the version of you walking into 2026.
