October Doesn’t Need Another AI Agent!

Last week I sat in on an AI training session with about 40 real estate agents. As I looked around the room, I could see that some of them were frustrated. One agent finally said it out loud: “I’m losing count of what I have to learn.”

First it was ChatGPT, then Gemini, then Claude. Now there’s Grok, Muse, Dots, and what feels like a new tool every week that agents are told they need to learn.

It got me thinking. At what point are we helping agents become more productive, and at what point are we sending them down a rabbit hole?

I love AI. I use it, and I believe every agent should know how to use it. But we need to be careful that chasing the next great tool doesn’t turn into another case of shiny object syndrome.

While we’re learning another platform, building another bot, and watching another tutorial, the tool that has created real estate business for decades is still sitting right in front of us.

The phone.

So here’s my challenge for you for the remainder of October.

You don’t need to give up technology or AI. Keep using the tools you already know when they help you do your job better. But for the rest of this month, stop chasing the next one. Instead, pick up the phone and call the people you already know. Go visit the people you already know.

You don’t need a brilliant script. Try something like this:

“Hey, it’s Kory. I realized it’s been way too long since we talked, and I’m making a point this month of reconnecting with people I haven’t spoken to in a while. How are you guys? What’s going on in your world?”

That’s it. No pitch. No market stats. Just have a real conversation. Listen, be curious about their life, and before you hang up, if it feels natural, ask, “Is there anything real estate related I can help you with?”

We spend so much time searching for better ways to generate business that we forget the simplest one.

Talk to people.

Here’s your assignment for the next 10 working days, should you wish to accept it:

  1. Make a list of 100 people you know by the end of today.
  2. Starting tomorrow, call 10 of them every working day until month end. That’s 100 calls in 10 days.
  3. Stop worrying about what to say and focus on being genuinely interested in what they have to say.

AI can help you write, create images, analyze the market, organize your follow up, and even book that flight! But it still can’t replace you.

So make the call. Be genuine, catch up, and have a laugh along the way.

October doesn’t need another bot or AI agent. It needs more conversations.

Talk soon.
