I may give up tomorrow, but not today!
I hope you had a great long weekend and got some real rest, because the run to year end is on and it’s going to ask a lot of you.
Here’s something I tell myself, not as a big motivational line, but as a simple rule I live by. I may give up tomorrow, but not today. Tomorrow I get to decide again. Today, I just show up.
I think it’s worth talking about because a lot of agents are tired right now. Tired from tough pricing conversations. Tired of sellers who won’t budge and buyers who won’t move. Tired of the noise around interest rates, tariffs, and whatever headline is spooking people this week. Everyone has a reason to be worn down.
On top of that, some buyers are behaving like it’s 2008, frozen and waiting for the bottom to fall out. Some sellers are behaving like it’s 2021, holding out for bidding wars that aren’t coming back anytime soon. Neither one is actually living in today’s market. And honestly, I’d love to be 21 again too, but wishing for a different market won’t change the one sitting in front of us.
So what do you do with that?
You keep working the plan. And if the plan feels too big to face right now, you shrink it.
What has to happen this month. Then this week. Then today. Then you get to work.
Sometimes the answer isn’t more motivation. It’s making the next step small enough that you can actually see yourself hitting it.
This week, I want you to do three things.
- First, take one goal from your business plan and turn it into a 30 day version. Something you can finish this month, not someday.
- Second, write your own one line anchor, something you can say to yourself on the days you don’t feel like showing up. Put it somewhere you’ll see it every morning.
- Third, block one hour this week for the task you’ve been avoiding because the market gave you a convenient excuse not to do it.
You don’t need to promise yourself you’ll never quit. That’s too big a promise for anyone. Just decide for today. Tomorrow, you get to decide again.
Have a powerful short week ahead.
