Four Months. What Are You Going to Do With Them?
Here we are. The end of August. Tomorrow is officially September 1.
Although we still have the long weekend to look forward to, it is a gentle reminder that there are only four months left in the year.
Four months.
The good news is that there is still enough time to change how 2026 finishes. But probably not enough time to keep doing the same things and hope for a different result.
This is the time of year when I encourage agents to stop for a moment and take an honest look at their business.
Not at the goals you wrote down in January.
At where you actually are today.
How many transactions have you closed?
How many do you still need?
What’s currently in your pipeline?
How many real opportunities are there between now and December 31?
You don’t need to beat yourself up if you’re behind. And you don’t need to coast if you’re ahead.
You need to know the numbers.
Because once you know where you are, you can decide what the next four months need to look like.
Maybe you need more conversations.
Maybe you have plenty of leads but haven’t followed up consistently.
Maybe you’re busy, but not enough of that activity is turning into appointments.
Or maybe you’re having appointments, but they’re not turning into signed contracts.
Those are very different problems, and they require very different solutions.
That’s why simply saying “I need to work harder this fall” isn’t a strategy.
Know the gap. Then build the plan to close it.
This week’s assignment is simple:
- Pull out the goals you set for 2026 and compare them with your actual results through August.
- Calculate exactly what you need to accomplish between September 1 and December 31. Not approximately. Know the number.
- Identify the one activity that would make the biggest difference over the next four months, then add it to your calendar every week and put it into motion.
September has always felt like a second January to me. People are back. Routines return. The market wakes up. And there is still enough runway to do something meaningful with the year.
You have four months left.
Make them count.
