Embrace the Buffalo Mentality

Hello everyone,

In this slower real estate market, it’s easy to feel discouraged. But I want to share a story that might shift your perspective.

Have you ever heard about how buffaloes handle storms? When a storm approaches, most animals run away from it, but buffaloes do something remarkable. They charge head-on into the storm, minimizing their time in adversity. This “buffalo mentality” is what sets successful agents apart. It’s a powerful reminder that facing challenges directly can shorten our time in difficulty and lead us to brighter days faster.

Recently, I spoke with several of my coaching clients who have been in the business for a long time and have weathered many storms, including those high-interest rates in the 20 percent range in the early ’90s. Their experience is a goldmine of wisdom, and their insights were invaluable. They shared how they tackle today’s market with proactive strategies. Consistency, doubling down on their activities, prospecting more, having more conversations, and getting involved in areas they’ve never explored before were some of their key tactics. One agent mentioned how they started hosting community events to build stronger local connections, while another has been leveraging social media to engage with potential clients more effectively. Their stories of resilience and adaptation are truly inspiring and show that even in tough times, there are always opportunities to grow and succeed.

You might say, “But the market is slow and nothing sells.” Well, let me tell you, several thousand homes still got sold last month. This proves that opportunities are out there. The key is to set proper expectations with our seller clients, price properties correctly, and be proactive. Don’t just rely on the MLS to sell your property. Get creative, use all the tools at your disposal, and go the extra mile to reach potential buyers. Now is the time to do what it takes to stand out and succeed!

By facing the challenges head-on, we can turn this slow period into an opportunity for growth and success.

Have a productive week ahead.
