The Market Will Trick You
I don’t know about you, but I’m a golden oldie … and I’ve been around long enough to see good markets, bad markets, and everything in between. And here’s the truth: the market will trick you if you let it.
It doesn’t matter whether things were booming or slowing down. The real question always remains the same:
How did I show up then, and how am I showing up today?
When the market is inflated like it was a couple of years ago, businesses inflate too. It creates delusional agents who believe they’re succeeding because of their brilliance, when in reality, they’re just riding a wave. And when the tide goes out, you can see who was swimming naked!
So, let me ask you a hard but honest question:
Were you actually good… or was the market good, and you just went along for the ride?
Were you actually good… or was the market good, and you just went along for the ride?
Because here’s the bottom line:
- A market doesn’t dictate your growth. Your actions do.
- A market doesn’t dictate your income. Your consistency does.
Every market is a mindset market and an action economy. That’s it.
The Roller Coaster Trap
If you let external circumstances control you, then every morning you’re waking up, strapping in for a roller coaster ride you didn’t choose. That’s not business ownership, that’s irresponsibility.
“The market is down.” So what?
When things get hard, what do most people do?
The answer is almost always the same: they quit, or they freeze.
And do you know what that means for you? Less competition. A smaller playing field. Most of the agents you’re “competing” with aren’t moving forward with the same mindset or discipline you are. They’re too busy blaming the market.
Stop Overcomplicating It
This is where so many agents get stuck. They obsess about the market. They chase shiny new strategies. They spend more time worrying about what’s changing instead of doubling down on what they already know works.
The only thing complicated about this market is you.
So simplify.
- Get clear on what you want.
- Get clear on what it will take.
- Do it today.
- Do it again tomorrow.
- Rinse and repeat.
That’s how you win in every market.
So as this new week begins, I’ll leave you with this question:
How will you show up today?
How will you show up today?
Because in the end, the market isn’t deciding your future, you are.
Let’s go win the week.
