Your Why!
I had a conversation with an agent on Friday who was feeling just that. The calls were happening, the appointments were booked, but the energy just wasn’t there. It’s the end of July and the weather is scorching hot, so maybe that’s part of it, but still.
So I asked her a simple question: Why did you get into real estate in the first place?
At first, it was the usual responses like flexibility, income, being your own boss (right!) But when we slowed it down, she got to the real answer:
I get excited by homes. Great homes. Helping clients find the right one so they can build a future. I love being part of that journey.
You could see her whole posture shift. That one sentence brought her back to life.
That’s what Simon Sinek means when he says, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”
And that why isn’t just for your clients. It’s for you, and for me.
It’s the anchor when the market gets tough or our motivation dips.
So if you’re feeling a little off this week, here’s your simple reset plan: Reconnect with your why.
Take 10 quiet minutes.
Ask yourself: Why did I choose real estate as a career? Why do I stay in it?
Say the answer out loud. Write it down. Share it with someone, a colleague, a client, maybe even on social. Why not?
Then look at your calendar. Are your work habits reflecting that why?
Make one small adjustment that brings you back to purpose.
Your why is where your leadership starts.
Your why is what your clients feel, long before you hand them a business card.
Start there.
The rest gets a lot clearer and if your why is strong, your how becomes unstoppable.
Wishing you a purposeful, productive week ahead.
