In case you haven’t noticed, the world is full of competency-challenged*. Look around — in the next cubicle, on the highways as you drive home, even in the grocery store. Just think how easy your life would be if people around you would just use their heads and do what they’re supposed to do.

So how do we do our jobs and live our lives with the competency-challenged?

You could get mad, they certainly deserve it. Or you can get even but that’s not very smart. You could help the poor sods by explaining what they’re doing wrong, or you could nag, and nag even more. You could stay quiete and don’t say anything to them but think about them all the time — This is the way you’d create stress related physical symptoms for yourself. The competency-challenged around you wont listen, but maybe your doctor will. Oh, you can give up because you cant do anything anyway — Think depression here! The minute you give up, the next depression victim could be you.

So, what do we do? Well, learning how to share the planet with the competency-challenged is a good option –You are never going to make them into smart, responsible people like you. The best you can hope for is to keep control of your own life and not give in to them by letting them push your buttons. Serenity now, Serenity now, Serenity now …
